Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty)

It is a popular procedure to address sagging, puffy eyelids, or bags under the eyes, which can make a person look older and more tired.

There are two primary types of blepharoplasty:

  1. Upper Blepharoplasty: This procedure involves the removal of excess skin and sometimes fat from the upper eyelids. It can help address drooping upper eyelids that might obstruct vision or create an aged appearance.

  2. Lower Blepharoplasty: This procedure focuses on the lower eyelids and targets issues like under-eye bags or puffiness. Surgeons can remove or reposition fat and tighten the skin to achieve a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

The surgery is typically performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of the procedure and the patient’s preference. The surgeon makes precise incisions along the natural creases of the eyelids to minimize visible scarring. Excess skin, muscle, and fat are then removed or adjusted as needed.

Recovery time varies from person to person, but generally, patients should expect some bruising and swelling around the eyes after the surgery. These side effects usually subside within a couple of weeks. It’s essential to follow post-operative instructions carefully and avoid strenuous activities during the initial healing phase.
