Split ear Lobule surgery
Split earlobule surgery, also known as earlobe repair or earlobe reconstruction, is a surgical procedure performed to correct a split or torn earlobe. This condition can be caused by various factors, including trauma from wearing heavy earrings, accidental tearing, or gauging (stretching) of the earlobe beyond its natural capacity.
The procedure involves the following steps:
Local Anesthesia: The surgeon will administer local anesthesia to numb the area around the earlobe, ensuring that the patient remains comfortable during the procedure.
Cleaning and Marking: The surgeon will clean the area to reduce the risk of infection. They will then mark the incision lines where the earlobe will be reattached or repaired.
Incision and Removal of Scar Tissue: Using a scalpel or a surgical blade, the surgeon will make precise incisions along the marked lines to remove any scar tissue and properly align the edges of the torn earlobe.
Suturing: The surgeon will then use fine sutures (stitches) to carefully bring together the edges of the earlobe, creating a clean, natural-looking closure. Dissolvable sutures may be used, which eliminate the need for suture removal in the future.
Dressing and Aftercare: Once the sutures are in place, the surgeon will apply a sterile dressing over the earlobe to protect it during the initial healing process. Patients will receive post-operative instructions on how to care for their earlobes during the recovery period.
